The cornerstones of closing the achievement gap are highly effective teachers and principals. Through the Center to Close the Achievement Gap, the business community, CSU Office of the Chancellor and CSU deans and faculty partner to strengthen the preparation and performance of new teachers and administrators in CSU colleges of education to accomplish the following:
- Significantly reduce achievement gaps in reading, writing, math and other core content areas
- Prepare high school graduates with the skills to succeed at college level work
- Decrease college remediation rates while increasing degree completion rates.
The Center facilitates peer to peer exchanges of best practices that raise student academic achievement and close achievement gaps.
