Alex Barrios

Alex Barrios serves as President of ERP. He has served in a number of executive leadership roles in the public, private and non-profit sectors over the course of his 20-year career.  

 

Prior to joining ERP, Alex worked in the K-12 education system as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet at Sacramento City Unified School District. For a decade he worked in the California State Legislature and in the executive branch of state government as a special assistant, advisor,  communications director, public information officer and senior legislative representative. He also served as vice president at a top California public affairs firm where he consulted on strategy and public affairs for multiple Fortune 500 companies, foundations and non-profit organizations. 

 

Throughout his career, Alex has worked closely with internal and external teams to increase awareness and advocate for important policy change on a wide range of issues. He is recognized for his ability to build coalitions and lead effective teams. In 2010, the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce named him "Young Professional of the Year" for organizing multiple outreach campaigns that helped pump millions of dollars into the local economy. He is a former appointed member of the Sacramento County Children's Coalition and serves on the Board of Directors of the California Leadership Institute and Mentoring Bridge (CLIMB).

 

Alex earned his M.A. in communication studies and B.A. in organizational communication from Sacramento State University.
