Alex Barrios leads strategic communications and public relations at Educational Results Partnership. He has over 15 years’ experience directing strategic communications teams for large public agencies, nonprofit organizations, clients and elected officials.
Prior to joining ERP, Alex worked in the K-12 education system as the Chief Communications Officer for the Sacramento City Unified School District. He also spent a decade working inside California's State Capitol and in the executive branch as a communications director, public information officer and senior legislative representative. Throughout his career, Alex has worked with news media outlets and reporters across the country to help generate awareness of important social issues and public policy initiatives. Alex is highly regarded for his ability to lead effective community outreach and coalition-building campaigns. In 2010, the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce named him as "Young Professional of the Year" for organizing multiple outreach campaigns that helped pump millions of dollars into the local economy. He is a former appointed member of the Sacramento County Children's Coalition and serves on the Board of Directors of the California Leadership Institute and Mentoring Bridge (CLIMB).
Alex earned his M.A. in communication studies and B.A. in organizational communication from Sacramento State University.
