For generations, students have left high school with transcripts, test scores, and diplomas. But few leave with a clear understanding of one of the most valuable things they possess: their skills.

At the same time, employers are increasingly adopting skills-based hiring practices, artificial intelligence is reshaping the labor market, and students are being asked to make important decisions about their futures in an increasingly complex economy.

What if educational achievement could be translated into workforce-relevant skills signals that help students better understand their strengths and connect those strengths to future opportunities?

Over the past year, ERP has developed a Skills Currency algorithm and student-facing platform designed to do exactly that. This spring, we completed our first pilot with graduating seniors in Rowland Unified School District and asked students what happened when they were given visibility into their skills.

Today, Educational Results Partnership is releasing a new report, Skills Currency: Building a Common Language Between Education and Employment. The report shares findings from that pilot and explores a broader vision for creating employer-led infrastructure that helps students self-navigate education, training, and employment opportunities with better information about their demonstrated skills.

We believe the future isn't about telling students what to do. It's about giving them the information they need to decide for themselves.
